There is no simpler way to navigate a Bedrock world than by using a Minimap addon. Let me tell you—life in this game can be divided into before and after having a minimap. I can't stress enough how many times I've lost my mind after venturing too far and being unable to find my way back. Sure, you can just respawn at your bed, but that will likely cause you to lose all of your inventory.
It's just more convenient to have a minimap always visible in the corner of the screen, instead of relying on the convoluted vanilla map system. If the minimap doesn't appear when you load the world, go to Settings > Video > Hide Paper Doll and turn it off.
