The True Backpack add-on significantly expands player inventory in Minecraft PE, adding up to 256 slots and virtually eliminating storage issues. With this increased capacity, chests become largely unnecessary, and items remain safely stored within the backpack even after death.

Backpacks are fully dyeable. Simply apply any dye to a backpack placed on the ground to change its color.

Equipping a backpack is as simple as walking over it. An on-screen indicator will fill, and the backpack will become visible in third-person view.

To remove a backpack, use a glove. Applying the glove will place the backpack on the ground in front of you.

Items can be stored in two ways: by opening your inventory while wearing the backpack, or by throwing items at the backpack while it is on the ground.

The backpack also features three dedicated tool slots.

Crafting and upgrading

The basic backpack provides 64 inventory slots. This capacity can be upgraded to 256 by placing an Ender Bag in the leftmost of the three dedicated tool slots. The other two slots are designed for a pickaxe and a bucket of liquid.
