The Fishing Revamp addon allows you to catch more than just fish by including other items in the loot table. Don't worry, you will still catch fish most of the time (you can't just take away such a source of food), but sometimes you'll get a random resource. I've been fishing for a few minutes and I've already caught a Bottle of Enchanting, a Bone, and a few Lapis Lazuli. Fishing will still be a boring process, but getting an exciting rare item out of it definitely helps.
