Starting from Scratch

Gone are the days of barehanded wood collection. Now, even the basics demand ingenuity. Your first priority? Flint. Find Gravel and harvest it until you collect Flint, which you’ll then break down into Flint Shards using your crafting grid.

How to Get Wood Now

You’ll need sticks before you can do much else. Shake down bushes or break leaves—sometimes sticks will even be scattered on the ground. Combine a stick with a flint shard to create your first tool: a Flint Knife. Use it to gather plant fibers, the next essential component.

Crafting Your First Axe

With Flint Shards, Fibers, and Sticks in hand, you're ready to make a Flint Axe. This unlocks access to planks, but not the easy way. Strip a log, place it on a Chopping Log (crafted from a wood log), and use your axe to chop it into planks.
